This article really interesting for me because I never think that
police need any culture awareness but this article explores the history of race
relations and cultural awareness training in the United States and the
importance of emphasizing cognitive and learning styles of police in an attempt
to ensure the course content is effective that makes me more curious. And the
end of this article said that communication is a critical part of policing.
Research in the United States has shown that 93 percent of police work is
one-on-one communication and the ability to communicate with all of the
citizens in our communities is critical to successful policing. The more
effective courses are those that include discussions of various cultures within
communities and how they can best be served.
And that’s why they need this lesson in police
academy.
